This oil pressure relief valve kit contains both the aluminum plunger, or cap (12H865) and the longer spring (6K853) located behind it.

This pressure release valve can be located behind the 15/16" domed cap nut next to the distributor.

The spring will be visible once the cap nut is removed and the plunger is beneath the spring.

If the aluminium plunger is stuck then cranking the engine over will usually free it, alternatively an M12 thread tap can be screwed into the inside of the plunger and it can be drawn out.

When replacing the old plunger with the new alluminum plunger it is recommended that it be lightly ground in as you would valves in a cylinder head, all surfaces should be thouroughly cleaned and flushed afterwards.

This plunger gives a more reliable and consistant oil pressure and flow, however some racers prefer to use a ball instead of the plunger, the ball gives you an inconsistant flow and pressure, the gauge won't register these fluctuations however your crank and conrods will.
